PROGRAMMES AND SPECIAL INITIATIVES

The African NGO Summit will convene leaders and representatives from a variety of sectors, including competent speakers and resource persons, research fellows and academia in the third sector and chief executives of leading NGOs will deliver papers on the above and many other topical issues related to NGOs operating at national, sub-regional and regional levels. 

The African NGO Awards will recognise excellence, demonstrated support and commitment, through professional services, best practices and sound management principles, corporate governance, good stewardship, innovation and effectiveness in improving the lives of the poor and those most vulnerable in local communities in African countries.  

AFRINGO builds the institutional capacity of NGOs to enable them to become more effective and capable organisations in pursuit of their missions. The Institute offers a wide range of professional short courses that are designed to continuously improve productivity in various national, regional and international organisations, and other various NGOs across Africa. 

The African NGO Academy provides opportunities to explore leadership and secrets of success stories of the great organisations engaging with successful leaders from leading national, regional and international NGOs and companies, developing mutually beneficial professional and personal relationships that will endure beyond the programme completion date. 

The African NGO Council runs the NGO Resource Centre  to facilitate a clearinghouse which serves as a centre for NGOs to disseminate, research and collect useful information on important subjects such as development cooperation issues at national, regional and global levels. AFRONGO also provides the opportunity for members to coordinate online resource sharing efforts with other NGOs and CSO coalitions .   

The African NGO Directory is a useful online resource/database of NGOs in their diversity operating across the African continent. It captures useful information such as name and brief corporate profile of NGO, including objectives, goals, legal status, geographical location(s), areas of operations, mailing address, email, website, board of directors, director/CEO, budget size, funders/donors, partners, projects/programmes.
